I think of myself as a partner to the business, not just a technology supplier. Most architecture problems aren’t really about picking a technology — they’re about no one connecting business intent, stakeholders, and the system. So I coordinate the people, facilitate my way to the real problem, and guide teams to the right design. On the same engagement I’ll talk strategy with the C-suite and go deep in the details with the engineers.
Architecture is not a one-off technical decision — it’s a continuous, socio-technical activity. The hard part is rarely which technology to pick; it’s making and governing architectural decisions over time, across incomplete information and competing stakeholder viewpoints. Understanding the problem first is usually the faster route to solving it.
